IMPULSE RESPONSES
What is an Impulse Response? An impulse response is a capture of the frequency curve of a cabinet and microphone setup on a speaker cabinet. Amp modelers and plugins model the amplifier then usually have a separate section for cabinet IRs to model the effect the speaker cabinet has on the amp signal. So essentially, an IR is the digital version of a cabinet and microphone. What format are the IRs in? The IRs come in .wav format. They are 44.1 sample rate and 24 bit depth.
How can I use the IR files on an AxeFX? AxeFX users can download download the "Cab-Lab" software from Fractal Audio and convert the IRs into a .sys file for AxeFX. The IRs have been tested on AxeFX 2 and sound amazing on it!
